Culture

Nurturing designers and maturing design teams

Strong design culture doesn’t happen by accident. I’ve focused on building teams where designers feel supported, challenged, and empowered to lead. Through managing managers, coaching, and process improvements, I help designers grow in both confidence and influence. I believe in creating environments where design is respected, impactful, and deeply connected to the business.

Accessibility training

I partnered with Clover's Director of Accessibility to train an audience of product designers, content designers, and UX researchers. We led ten live sessions, with additional demos and practice sessions, and established ongoing opportunities to refresh knowledge and ask questions. Ultimately every designer became responsible for delivering mockups an specs that can be built into fully accessible experiences compliant with WCAG 2.0 Level AA.

Design principles

I partnered with other design leaders to lead a two-day workshop that would lead our team towards developing relevant, applicable design principles that would guide our entire body of work going forward. By co-creating the principles with the entire team, we established a sense of ownership and intrinsic motivation to create within the principles in mind and socialize them across the entire organization.

Tomotomo

Our company changed during COVID — we opened more offices in more time zones and hired remote people. When returning to the office, I partnered with a peer to establish and socialize Tomotomo (Japanese for "together") guidelines for a hybrid working culture that would retain the benefits in collaboration and respect that we gained while being geographically distributed.

Quality & Uniformity Office (QUO)

At Clover I was responsible for creating and leading programs that defined and upheld standards for quality and consistency across a complex multi-sided platform with many form factors, from mobile apps to large kiosks. Programs included an objective scoring system based on heuristics, a longitudinal user survey program, and lowering the barriers to reporting experience bugs.
